Matty Groves is a dark folk song of betrayal and murder, also known as "Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard" or "Little Musgrave" this murder ballad probably originated in Northern England and describes an adulterous tryst between a young man and a noblewoman that is ended when the woman's husband discovers and kills them.
The image was also used to promote a Matty Groves special on Folk Musician James Fagan and co-presenter Sam Hindley's radio show Thank Goodness It's Folk.
